Ok, so one of my best friends Amber is having her baby girl on July 3 via c-section. She already has a two year old boy and she is now officially done with having kids. It got me to thinking...how do you know when you're done? I have two boys and I long for a little girl, often daydreaming in my head how fun it would be to go shopping together, pass down my Vera Wang wedding dress, my jewelry and all of my best, yet outdated clothing to her.
And then I am reminded of how difficult it is to raise more than one child at a time. At this very moment, my poor husband is mopping up about a gallon's worth of apple juice from the kitchen floor that was spilled by my five year old. In another room, I hear my two year old playing in our guest bathroom "helping" wash the counter tops with our set of lavender decorative soaps. This I know for a fact: boys are rambunctious. Are girls really that different? I've heard that girls do have a bit more drama, but they are in general more calm than their male counterparts. I'm not sure that I want to have another baby--we have a good dynamic as a family right now and it will be ideal for travel by next summer. Until then, I'll just have to spoil Amber's baby girl with all the pink stuff I can get my hands on. Maybe she'll be able to pass down some of the adorable things I've already gotten her when it's my turn to have a girl, we'll have to wait and see...
